Cynthia E. MacCausland to be sworn in as a member of the Rhode Island Bar

Attorney Cynthia E. MacCausland recently passed the Rhode Island Bar Exam and will be sworn in as a member of the Rhode Island Bar on June 01, 2017. After practicing for a number of years in Massachusetts Cynthia sought to expand both her practice and her ability to assist children and families across Southern New England by preparing to sit for the Rhode Island Bar Exam in February 2017. After several months of diligent preparation and a rigorous admission process, Cynthia recently learned she was one of only 38 Applicants to pass the very difficult examination.

After what promises to be a very intimate swearing in ceremony, Cynthia will make preparations to open a second law office serving litigants from Providence to Newport in all areas of her practice; domestic relations, child welfare and education. In particular, Attorney MacCausland hopes to assist the children and families of those individuals struggling with the tragedy of opiate addiction who are unable to care for their children as they seek recovery and treatment.

Cynthia has created a specialized and unique practice of assisting grandparents and other extended family and community members in obtaining custody and guardianship of their grandchildren, nieces and nephews who are at risk of being removed from their parents, or who have already been placed in emergency foster care. Many of these families are unfamiliar with the state child welfare system or the very particular and specific steps and requirements for becoming family care providers and resources for their young and vulnerable relatives. Cynthia is able to provide accessible legal representation and consultation to help keep families together and young children out of state custody.
